Welcome
to Grace!
Having
experienced the amazing love of our God revealed in Jesus Christ,
we at Grace United Methodist Church respond with the THE GRACE DRIVEN
LIFE — LIVING IN THE BALANCE! The founder of the Eighteenth
Century spiritual renewal movement of people called Methodists, the
Rev. John Wesley, was concerned that "the Methodists would become
societies having the form of godliness without the power. For him,
the power of religion was the movement of grace that transforms and
heals human hearts and relationships from self-centered existence
to Christ-centered abundant, eternal life. He understood that Christian
faith is incarnational.” (From The Grace-Driven Life study resources)
Wesley was concerned that the spiritual should be lived in the physical.
That's part of God's revelation to us in Jesus.
Also, every system in our physical bodies must be balanced to stay
healthy. It’s in the imbalance -- too much blood sugar or not
enough blood pressure -- that our bodies become diseased. So it is
with our spiritual lives. We need to live in the balance of a personal
relationship of love with Christ through prayers and presence and
a public relationship of love with our neighbors through gifts and
service. This is how we witness to God's grace that is active in our
lives. These are our Membership Vows with our covenant relationship
to God.
The good news is that we have a community of other Christians ready
to help us stay in balance. So it is that living the life of grace
means to live with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, relying
on God’s grace in Jesus as sufficient for the journey.
There is much to learn about life in the BALANCE as we share together
the experience of God’s transforming power of grace!
Look
around the pages of our Web site (please note that we are currently
in the process of redesign) and see how we are seeking to live out
our mission of "making disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation
of the world." Then, come worship with us as soon as you can!
GRACE
and Peace,
Keith
